Beauty Queens including the current Miss Tees Valley, Mollie Kell gathered at the Cleveland Centre, Middlesbrough to celebrate Envied Events crossing the £100,000 fundraising milestone for various UK charities. Envied Events organises the Miss Tees Valley, Miss North Yorkshire and Miss West Yorkshire regional finals, as well as the Supermodel England National Competition.

Owner and competition organiser, Alexandra Devine, 27, a former beauty queen and former student of Egglescliffe School started the business in late 2011 after graduating from the University of Manchester, she said “I am so proud to be able to sit with such an inspiring group of young women to celebrate such a fabulous achievement. This is a collective effort of over 200 contestants. When my first competition was staged live in 2012, I never dreamed we could achieve so much for such incredible charities in such a short space of time”.

Beneficiaries of the modelling competitions organised by Alexandra include, Zoes Place Baby Hospice, Middlesbrough (£42,000+ raised), the Butterwick Hospice (£31,800+ raised) and Candlelighters Yorkshire’s Childrens Cancer Charity (£29,000+), as well as smaller amounts going to the Kirkwood Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“Whilst the competitions are about modelling, I think it’s really important that we encourage inner beauty too, we put such a big emphasis on charity work, working in the local community and the contestants forming positive relationships with each other.” said Alexandra. Miss Tees Valley 2016, Ellie Tyers, who also attended the photoshoot said, “Well done to everyone involved, I feel so proud”. Alexandra added, “Its thanks to all of our competition sponsors, including the Cleveland Centre that allow the competitions to keep running year after year, which facilitate us being able to raise such brilliant amounts for worthy local causes”.

Another fantastic year of the Miss Tees Valley competition is now over. The 2017 Live Grand Final, in association with the Cleveland Centre, Middlesbrough, took place on September 1st in the stunning ballroom of The Swan Hotel, Billingham. 2017 was the year of "Miss Tees Valley Rocks" and what a fun night we had with the themeing! The finalists took to the stage in their black leathers to a mash-up of Queen - We Will Rock You and AC/DC - Back in Black and definitely brought the house down! Our brilliant photographer for the evening, Chris Hall at Click-a-pic photography was also on hand to take some brilliant shots of our guests with every rock themed prop we could lay our hands on!! Our special guest performer for the evening, Danielle Ripley also dazzled the audience, performing classics from Kings of Leon and Coldplay!

This year we raised over £11,250 for Zoes Place, Baby Hospice, Middlesbrough!!! Bringing the Miss Tees Valley competition's overall fundraising total to over £58,500 for Teesside based charities since 2012!!!! WOW! A huge thank you to everyone who helped raise such an incredible amount!!

Before crowning our new winner, we said an emotional goodbye to Miss Tees Valley 2016, Ellie Tyers. What a fanastic representative for the area and role model she has been throughout her reigning year! After some lovely speeches and gift exchange, Ellie took to the catwalk for her final walk as Miss Tees Valley! Ellie was also part of our judging panel, alongside other former Miss Tees Valley winners, Ailish Shaw and Rebecca Ridsdale, Zoes Place Community Fundraiser, Rachael Willmore and guest performer Danielle Ripley.

Congratulations to Mollie Kell, 17, from Stockton on Tees who was crowned Miss Tees Valley 2017. Mollie also won the Miss Catwalk for a Cause Award having single-handedly raised £3,820 for Zoes Place and the Miss Congeniality award, for being the most friendly contestant, as voted for by the other finalists! 1st Runner-Up was Amber Lockett and 2nd Runner-Up was Lydia Booth!

No matter the result, all of the finalists looked and performed absolutely incredibly and we are sad to say goodbye to the Miss Tees Valley Class of 2017! We hope we will see some of you, if not all, compete again in future!

Since our formation in 2012, the Miss Tees Valley organisation has been an avid supporter of raising awareness for environmental issues. Each year we see our incredible finalists model their hand-made ‘Eco Wear’ creations on the catwalk at the Live Grand Final to promote recycling and reusing. Over the years we’ve seen sensational designs that wouldn’t look out of place on the runways of London, Milan or Paris, made from: newspapers, plastic bottles, old CDs, bubble wrap, sweet wrappers, and old christmas decorations, just to name a few!

For the 2017 competition, we decided to swap the catwalk for the camera, with our 2017 finalists, alongside our reigning winner, Miss Tees Valley 2016, Ellie Tyers stepping in front of the lens for the photographic campaign, “The World is in our Hands - Refuse, Reuse, Recycle”, Shot at Crimdon Beach, Hartlepool.
